We had an excellent view of Lake Huron and Mackinac Island. The room was clean and the housekeeping service was very good. We came during the late time of year when it wasn't crowded so that added to our enjoyment, even with all the rain. The room was spacious and comfortable and a great value (though I'm sure some of that is that it was off-season). There was very limited parking because of a full house and our late arrival, and, again, the front desk was very helpful in solving that. The breakfast which was included was very nice with a wide selection of items and a comfortable setting. We were actually only there for about 5 hours - but we thought it was excellent. We also appreciated the central location of the facility which allowed us to walk to the shopping and eating areas. The breakfast area was much appreciated - it was fully stocked and clean and is a good selling point. Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront HotelBest Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Jean from Schererville stayed in August 2009Originally I had booked a room with the water view (which I shouldn't complain we did get), but it was on the floor below the ground & the last room closest to the street. It did have a view, however we had to go outside to see the water. It wasn't bad, but I guess I should've been more specific on what I'd hoped for. I'd hoped for an upper floor with a balcony where we could sit out & have coffee in the morning & sit out & watch the sunset. I asked if we could be switched, but there were no more rooms. The hotel was nice, but not too crazy about the breakfast. It is great that it was complimentary, but didn't know that we'd have to walk up so many stairs & we're not spring chickens anymore, to get it. It tasted alright, but not very impressed. We would stay there again, but this time indicate exactly the room I'd like. We liked the fact that it was the closest hotel to the downtown area & the Irish Pub! We were in there every night! We had an issue with the heat and went to the front desk. The person we spoke to kept her eyes on her computer and never gave her full attention to what we were telling her. However Larry the maintenance guy was great!! Very friendly and solved the problem. We were there in very cold weather and the doors to the rooms opened to the open air.
