We had a 1st floor beachfront room with balcony and hot tub. The room was very comfortable and laid out well. It was so relaxing to sip my morning coffee on the balcony and watch thee sun come up over lake Huron. We did a lot of sightseeing (walking) and a soak in the hot tub was a great way to relax back in our room. Our room was always immaculately clean and the entire staff was gracious and helpful. The rooms are tidy and clean. We paid $20 more for a lake view room this year and it was worth it. The rooms are a little nicer and having the balcony was nice. This was my first trip to the area. I was put on the fourth floor, and the view was wonderful. The room was oversized and bright...just lovely. The hotel and staff made this mini vacation one I'll remember for a long time. Would I come back...YES!!! Would I stay at the Clarion again..YES!!! Would I recommend the Clarion...YES!!! We had access to the beach and to the pool and exercise room. However the pool was not open early enough for a morning swim before check out time to really be able to take advantage of it. The breakfast buffett was very adequate but we were glad that we are physically fit older seniors. We saw one couple struggle with climing the stairway to get to the buffet. I would go ther again. The room was large, nice and clean and we had a room on the beach as we had requested. However, we were told we would get an upper floor with a deck. The deck area on the main floor was a bit smaller, but over all it was a nice place to stay. The lady that cleaned our room and the lady that ran the breakfast buffet were very friendly and made our stay more enjoyable. It was nice to come back to a clean room and to be greeted by the stuffed animals that were neatly placed on my children's beds. We can't say enough how nice it was to be greeted by a familiar face each morning at the breakfast buffet. The lady always had a smile on her face while singing along with the positive songs on the radio she had playing. Wow! That really started our day off on a positive note! Other customers stated the same thing-to hear nice music and to see a smiling face every morning. I have referred your hotel to 9 of my staff members. Actually, two of them have already booked a room for next year! I would like to say the front desk staff were not as friendly or welcoming as the housekeepers and the women serving breakfast. If the front desk staff had the same attitude and friendliness, I would have rated our stay "outstanding". I booked the rooms on the internet and requesting ajoining rooms, if possible. We had no problems getting the rooms together, which was very helpful to us. The breakfast buffet was a good way to start the day and kept us going until late in the afternoon. The beach was great and the we had a wonderful time swimming in the lake. Thank you also for the waterpark passes. The kids really enjoyed that. This hotel was recommended to me from a friend of mine that had stayed here last year. The view is breathtaking you can see Mackinac Island from your room, the rooms are clean, the complimentary breakfast has everything for every individual,whether you like sweet foods, healthy foods, or hearty foods. The Arnold ferry line to Mackinac Island is next door, walking distance, which makes for an easy access. It is always a great experience.
