We weren't sure if we would take a chance and stay, since we have heard so many horror stories of local Mackinaw City hotels gouging stranded travelers. We couldn't have been more surprised with the nice accommodations and a reasonable price for just sleeping there for 8 hours. The view from my patio was stunning, even mid-winter. The building itself felt very dated. Things in the room were yellow-ed and old. It didnt feel like any effort was put into updates or just keeping things fresh. The bed was fine. I appreciated the channel guide for the tv. The front desk staff was a little pushy and also could not provide any details about things to do in the area; when asked, she recommended I go to the bar. I asked about where to get a cup of coffee and she also suggested the bar. That was disappointing. The overall stay felt just ok in my eyes. The hotel is very clean and the amenities are great. We like to take the advantage of the hot tub after being outside all day at the race. We will more than likely be booking soon for next year. The only downfall is that your card is charged the morning of the date of arrival. I had held the room on my debit card but had decided to use my credit card when I got there and was told that it would be too hard to reverse the charge on my debit card and then put the charge on my credit card.
