I requested a specific room and that was not a problem for them. My room had a hot tub as big as the king size bed in it!! This room also had a huge wide screen tv, refrigerator and comfortable table with two chairs. We sit there often to read.Mackinaw City needs a covered shelter with clear curtains that can be lowered so visitors can bring chairs and sit and read or rest on cooler or rainy days. We especially love to sit at the Straits Park next to the bridge. We love to read, absorb scenery, and people watch.There's no place at the motel to do this either and the weather's not always perfect. The cleaning staff was very Good & Friendly & did their jobs very well! Most employees were very friendly & courteous! The main desk staff were for the most part polite & friendly although one bad person can ruin the others because of that one person who is definitely not polite or mannerly & just really rude causing a stressful environment among other staff members! This person was this way more than one day so it wasnt just a one day thing! Location is GREAT, close to the ferry and shopping and restaurants. Another plus is Sheplers Ferry shuttle picks you up and drops you off at the hotel. Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront HotelBest Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Innana from Mount Prospect stayed in August 2024We liked the location with it being on the beach and walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the ferry dock. The hotel itself was decent, a bit outdated in places like the lobby, pool, and gym but the rooms were ok. The staff was very helpful and accommodating of room service requests. The only thing I would say is the bed and pillows weren't very comfortable but comfort can often be subjective, plus I'm already having some back issues so other people may find the beds/pillows to be just fine. I also wish that the shampoo/conditioner bottles were easier to squeeze out of the container as the plastic felt a bit too hard. Plus the bottles were very small, almost too small to grip while in the shower. The best part was the cleanliness of our room and meeting the sweet Nickola who was responsible for our room. She takes her job seriously and wanted to ensure our comfort. What a lovely soul she is! Breakfast was also nice with many options to choose from. I found this hotel when my preferred hotel was booked full. It was roughly $130 both nights thanks to the Chamber of Tourism. Is we had paid anywhere else, the same stay would have been $389 for one night. If it were those prices I would have been disgusted. Everything was in great shape. The motel style was nice. I would totally recommend. We got two queen beds and a pull out couch and that fitted 5 of us just well. Plenty of room for use with walker etc. Only Problem we had was the bed was too high for us. My daughter chose to sleep on the couch which worked fine for her. My self I took on the challenge of the bed, which took me several tries the first time but then I developed a technique of flopping into it. Was nice and soft when I accomplished it. Ha,ha. A bit of a challenge for mid-seventy with severe arthritis that flared up that week...of course. I would certainly book there again. Best Western Plus Dockside Waterfront HotelBest Western Plus Dockside Waterfront Kevin from Standish stayed in April 2024The stay we had was very nice and amazing the only negative thing is that People that do not have reservations has access to the pool through the back door I think the doors should have to use your door key to get in and the pool it's self was not that clean when we got bavk to our room ans changed we left our wet clothes in the tub we left and came back they stuck bad and we was only gone for a hour and we ended up having to put them outside.
