Our room was wonderful, even got an upgrade. I had asked for top floor, however, we got second floor, which is better than bottom floor. When online making this reservation we were under the impression, plus in their web sight, there was a restaurant there and we would be getting breakfast with our room cost. There was no restaurant and no breakfast. Their little grab and go sacks only had a bottle of water, a small snack bar, and an apple. What is that? That was disappointing. The room was clean and comfortable. Plus after shopping on Thursday all afternoon, we just discovered our debit card has been hacked. At some point at some business, someone sold or took our cards information. We just had to call our bank and close out that account. We got notification some fraudulent charges got on our account by the fraud people at our bank. It has to be up in Mackinaw City as that was the only place we had been. However it seemed to me that it is an aging hotel and some of the rooms need to be remodeled to meet the price of the nightly cost. Also was planning to stay here with another individual who had reservations almost a full year and was unable to stay here due to rooms being cancelled before arrival. I on the other hand only reserved my room 1 week in advance and was able to stay. There was a slight musty odor in the room, most likely due to the proximity to the lake. The bathroom overhead fixture strobed until it was on for awhile. The bathroom faucet leaked almost continuously. The shower was wonderfully strong and hot. The hotel was quiet, and we enjoyed the ability to keep the slider open at night to hear the calming waves. Due to Covid, they are not offering the breakfast buffet at this time, I understand that aspect, however I do think that they could offer some type of prepackaged breakfast type foods besides a sack with a bottle of water and a granola bar. They do have a couple of nice breakfast spots that are offering discounts... if a buffet is what you enjoy, Toast a go go offers a delicious buffet. We did not mention it to the desk so they had no way of knowing. It was far superior to many that we have stayed in. Also we enjoyed the jazucci, but the workout/exercise room was too hot to use. It may have been from the sun shining in the window. Again we didn;'t say anything because we were anxious to go tour the city. Thanks for the wonderful weekend. The room was comfortable and clean. Our only concern was the lighting in the room. It was so dim that we asked for an additional lamp. The hotel provided one. There was a problem with booking through the city’s website. We had thought we had booked a water view room but when we arrived were told that none were available. Comfortable room except TV wasn't. working and we did not call for service since we were only staying.one day. Last year we had a downstairs Lakeview room . This was great. The only problem with upstairs 2nd floor room this year was the one elevator that was available to take us to our room down long hallway at other end made me.opt for parking close to room and walk up stairs. Not too bad because I only have minor mobility problems. So I guess future stays might include long hallway or early reservations for 1st floor room.
