Some of the clerks who work the front desk and the gentleman who operates breakfast could be a bit more friendly. I could faintly see the grand hotel through the fog and rain we unfortunately had during our stay. The only down side I saw during our stay is the hotel could use some updates. The carpet is one place that could be updated and vacuumed in the stairs/ elevator for frequently. It was foggy when we arrived and we wanted to purchase our tickets for the Ferry and Carriage ride for the Island for the next day and the receptionist wanted to be sure we understood that the tickets were non-refundable even if the weather was bad. You can watch the waves roll in and out from your bed or balcony! Breakfast area is not fancy, but hot and cold offerings are available - very sufficient to get the day rolling. The walk into the heart of town might be a mile (Central Ave.?) - but it feels really short as storefronts present all along the way. (Or take your car - for a one minute ride there!) We could walk to the Star-line Ferry, and restaurants were close by. And there is free parking everywhere.
