It was spacious and very comfortable. We purchased tickets for the carriage ride on Mackinac Island, the evening trolley tour and the boat ride to the island in advance and the front desk had everything waiting for us. The folks at the front desk were friendly and very willing to help with anything we needed. We were disappointed in the breakfast buffet. It was very basic and all Styrofoam cups and plates. I think they could upgrade the presentation somewhat. There was no bacon and the eggs appeared to be the dehydrated variety, not fresh scrambled. The room was very nice and the beds were very comfortable. The hotels check-in/out staff were very courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable about their jobs and also about local area directions and events. The free breakfast bar was appreciated and was good. Hallways seemed very narrow and luggage carts were available, though one small elevator and narrow halls were a bit of a squeeze to share with guests and housekeeping, but still effective, and noticeably quiet. Housekeeping staff was very good and courteous. The rooms were very clean and stocked with towels, washcloths, shower floor mats, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and coffee and coffee maker, and hair dryer. The hotel was a bit outdated, and the pool needed some cleaning. There was one poor customer experience with the front desk. The pool towels were gone, and we asked if they could bring more. Was disappointed elevator did not go all the way up to our 4th floor. Hard with luggage. It would have been nice to have had a warning about that. Faucet did not work in beach area, had to use one at Clarion. Guides had outdated info about hotel. They should be updated. Bought ferry tickets, Carriage tour, & Butterfly tickets at front desk. We assumed the butterfly tickets were for the one on the Carriage tour but they were for the other butterfly house instead. Most people would find that upsetting but we actually preferred the other butterfly house to the one on the Carriage Tour. Just a heads up for most of your guests.
